DIJALOG MIRA IVANA PAVALA II. U PRIGODI POSJETA SPLITU I SOLINU 1998.

Abstract

In the year 1998 John Paul II made his second pastoral visit to the Republic of Croatia, a young country, an old nation tired of centuries of turmoil in the areas they call their homeland. Exhausted by the just ended Homeland War, which began with military aggression against the Croatian people on the Croatian soil and ended with great human and material sacrifices, but also with the formation of the independent state of Croatia and the freedom of the Croatian people achieved. In October 1998 the pilgrims welcomed Pope John Paul II in Split and Solin. The second visit to the Republic of Croatia due to the very nature of the visit, and the Pope's paternal attitudes for the Croatian people, especially considering the calvary of war events, as his 84th apostolic journey in the service of peace brings some of the most significant messages. These are the messages that confirm why Pope John Paul II was called The Pilgrim of Peace and why his visit to Split and Solin was in the service of peace dialogue. In her work, the author presents the key messages of the Pope's peace dialogue and what we as a community and society have learned from The Pilgrim of Peace
