Autor se u radu bavi hodočašćima mladih vjernika katolika iz Hrvatske u Rim, papi Ivanu Pavlu II., koja su se počela održavati nakon Branimirove godine 1979. Spiritus movens svih tih gibanja od 1980. bio je isusovac pater Božidar Nagy. Naglasak predavanja je na hodočašćima iz Splitsko-makarske nadbiskupije, i to dvama 1983. i 1984. koje je autor osobno organizirao. Prve godine se 40 Splićana pridružilo grupi od 300 mladih koji su u Rim išli iz Zagreba u organizaciji patera Izidora Jedvaja i vjeronaučne zajednice pri bazilici Srca Isusova u Palmotićevoj ulici. Godinu poslije išlo je stotinu mladića i djevojaka izravno iz Splita, u dva autobusa, s duhovnicima, don Jurom Bogdanom i paterom Mijom Nikićem. Autor u radu ističe kako je vrhunac svih hodočašća bio 1985. i to za prvi Svjetski dan mladih, kada je među četiri tisuće hrvatskih hodočasnika u Rimu, don Petar Šolić predvodio hodočašće s tisuću mladih iz SMN-a. Rad prikazuje kako je to hodočašće, kao i sva ranija, odjeknulo ne samo u vjerničkoj nego i u široj javnosti te nastoji prikazati koliki su utjecaj imala takva okupljanja mladih na život Crkve i konkretnoga društva, osobito na akcije koje je protiv aktera hodočašća poduzimala zloglasna UDBA. Odvijala se u to vrijeme i čitava operativna obrada Trs usmjerena na lidere među mladima, koja je na svoj način, i to zbog verbalnoga delikta, svoju završnicu imala u sudskom postupku protiv kasnijega biskupa Šolića. Zaključno u radu autor obrađuje hodočašće za Marijansku godinu 1987., s više stotina sudionika, koje je organizirao don Ivan Ćubelić, a sudjelovao je i nadbiskup dr. Frane Franić, koji je zajedno s Papom koncelebrirao na hrvatskom jeziku svetu misu za mlade iz SMN-a u dvorcu u Castel Gandolfu.

IVAN UGRIN (Split, 1960.) osnovnoškolsko i srednjoškolsko obrazovanje završava u rodnom gradu. Diplomirao je 1993. na Teologiji u Splitu obranivši rad s naslovom Hrvatski katolički pokret u Splitsko-makarskoj biskupiji na temelju pisanja lista Jadran (1919. - 1929.). Objavom toga rada kao podlistka započinje radni vijek novinara i urednika u Slobodnoj Dalmaciji. Autor je i urednik triju monografija: Međugorje (1996.), Papa u Splitu i Solinu (1998.) i Sitno Donje (2015.) te devet publicističkih knjiga. Godine 2001. dobitnik je nagrade Marija Jurić Zagorka Hrvatskoga novinarskog društva za uređivanje kulturnoga priloga Forum Slobodne Dalmacije. Godine 2007. Hrvatsko društvo katoličkih novinara dodjeljuje mu godišnju nagradu za izuzetna novinarska postignuća i svjedočenje evanđeoskih vrijednosti putem sredstava društvenih komunikacija. Dobitnik je i nagrade Posvećeni život, koju su mu udijelili hrvatski redovnički poglavari i poglavarice uoči Svijećnice 2008. Oženjen je, otac četvero djece.
PILGRIMAGES OF YOUNG CROATIANS TO POPE JOHN PAUL II IN ROME IN THE 1980S

Abstract
In his work, the author deals with the pilgrimages of young Catholic believers from Croatia to Rome, to Pope John Paul II, which began taking place after the Branimir's year, in 1979. The spiritus movens of all these movements since 1980 was the Jesuit Father Božidar Nagy. The emphasis of the lecture is on pilgrimages from the Split-Makarska Archdiocese in 1983 and 1984, which the author personally organized. In the former year, 40 people from Split joined a group of 300 young people who went to Rome from Zagreb, organized by Father Izidor Jedvaj and the catechism community with the Basilica of the Heart of Jesus in Palmotićeva Street. A year later, a hundred young men and women went directly from Split, by two buses, with priests Rev. Juro Bogdan and Father Mijo Nikić. In the paper, the author points out that the peak of pilgrimages was in 1985, at the first World Youth Day, when among the four thousand Croatian pilgrims in Rome, Rev. Petar Šolić led a pilgrimage of a thousand young people from the Split-Makarska Archdiocese. The paper shows how this pilgrimage, like all the previous ones, resonated not only with the faithful but also with the wider public and tries to show how much influence such gatherings of young people had on the life of the Church and concrete society, especially on the actions taken against the actors of the pilgrimage by the infamous UDBA (Yugoslav Communist secret service). At that time, the entire TRS operations, aimed against youth leaders, took place, which in its own way and based on the "verbal offense", had its conclusion in the court proceedings against the subsequently bishop, Šolić. In conclusion, the author deals with the pilgrimage for the Marian Year in 1987, with hundreds of participants, organized by Rev. Ivan Ćubelić, and the Archbishop Dr. Frane Franić who, together with the Pope, concelebrated the Holy Mass in the Croatian language for the youth from the Split-Makarska Archdiocese in Castel Gandolfo.

About the author
IVAN UGRIN (b. 1960, Split) completed his primary and secondary education in his hometown. He graduated in 1993 from the Faculty of Theology in Split, defending his thesis titled Croatian Catholic Movement in the Split-Makarska Diocese based on the writings of the newspaper Jadran (1919-1929). With the publication of that work as a supplement, the professional life of a journalist and editor in the Slobodna Dalmacija newspaper begun. He is the author and editor of three monographs: Međugorje (1996), Pope in Split and Solin (1998) and Sitno Donje (2015), and nine non-fiction books. In 2001, he won the Marija Jurić Zagorka Award of the Croatian Journalist Association for editing the Forum culture supplements in the Slobodna Dalmacija newspaper. In 2007, he was awarded by the Croatian Association of Catholic Journalists the annual award for exceptional journalistic achievements and witnessing of evangelical values through the social communication media. He is also the winner of the Consecrated Life Award, which was awarded to him by the Croatian religious superiors on the eve of Candlemas in 2008. He is married and father of four children.
