Abstract
Catholic schools grant the opportunity to base formal education on Christian anthropology and to shape students’ personality in the light of the Gospel. The pontificate of John Paul II made a significant contribution to the development of Catholic education, and its theoretical foundations in particular. Due to the importance of the Pope’s teaching and its timeliness for contemporary Catholic education, I would like to carry out reflection devoted to it. It can inspire Catholic educators throughout the world.
My talk could be divided into the following parts:

About the author
PAWEŁ MĄKOSA is a full professor at John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin (Poland). He specializes in religious education and Catholic education. He is also interested in the religious formation of migrants and refugees. Recently, he has also been studying Christian art from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. He is the author of several hundred publications on religious education in various countries around the world. He has also carried out research grants on the religious identity of migrants in Great Britain. He has conducted many studies on the teaching of John Paul II regarding the potential of Catholic schools for education.

Sadržaj
Katoličke škole pružaju mogućnost utemeljenja osnovnoga obrazovanja na kršćanskoj antropologiji i oblikovanja osobnosti učenika u svjetlu Evanđelja. Pontifikat Ivana Pavla II. dao je značajan doprinos razvoju katoličkoga školstva, a posebice njegovih teorijskih osnova. Zbog važnosti Papina učenja i njegove aktualnosti za suvremeni katolički odgoj, autor donosi razmatranje tome posvećeno, a koje može biti nadahnuće katoličkim vjeroučiteljima diljem svijeta.
Autorov rad bi se mogao podijeliti u sljedeće točke:

PAWEŁ MĄKOSA redoviti je profesor na Katoličkom sveučilištu Ivana Pavla II. u Lublinu (Poljska). Bavi se vjeronaukom i katoličkim odgojem. Zanima ga i vjerska formacija migranata i izbjeglica. U posljednje vrijeme bavi se i proučavanjem kršćanske umjetnosti srednjega vijeka i renesanse. Autor je više stotina publikacija o vjeronauku u raznim zemljama diljem svijeta. Proveo je mnoga istraživanja o učenju Ivana Pavla II. o potencijalu katoličkih škola za obrazovanje.
